MARGAO: Defending champions Dempo Sports Club decided to play the perfect hosts to Kingfisher East Bengal, and went down by a Tolgay Ozbey-goal in their second round I-League clash at the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda on Wednesday.
The win left East Bengal's chief coach Trevor Morgan pleased as punch, because it could prove to be the turning point for his team which had suffered two reverses just before the league kicked off.
"I am happy with the performance of the boys," said Morgan after the match.
The difference between the teams on Wednesday was that East Bengal showed the hunger and desire to win, while Dempo looked content with just playing the waiting game.
The Dempo players must realise that matches are not won with mere ball possession. The defence allowed Tolgay Ozbey the liberty to trouble goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani regularly, while the midfield saw Peter Carvalho and Godwin Franco releasing the ball a little too late or allowing themselves to be dispossessed.
